Benson, NC: Mr. Bobby Lee Knowles, age 82, of 114 Banner Heights Road passed away peacefully Friday, December 6, 2019 at his residence. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Burial will follow in Pauline Baptist Church Cemetery in Four Oaks.
Bobby was born October 27, 1937 in Johnston County to the late Noah B. and Lillie Knowles. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Beasley Knowles, and a brother, Noah B. “Shorty Knowles, Jr. Bobby was an avid truck driver for Hilltop Farm Service Center in the Blackmon’s Crossroads community for 42 years. He was best known for never meeting a stranger and his love of driving 18 wheelers. Bobby was a beloved husband, step-father, step-grandfather and “Papa” to his three granddaughters. He was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church in Dunn.
Surviving include his wife of 33 years, Alice Bradshaw Knowles; step-daughter and son-in-law, Susan S. and George Hernandez of Benson; step-son and daughter-in-law, Timmy and Teresa Stephenson of Albemarle; grandchildren, Elizabeth Nicole Hernandez, Heather Jessica Hernandez, Amber Lauren Hernandez and Jesse Joe Stephenson; four great-grandchildren; brother, Shelton Knowles of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.
