Kenly – Carl Anderson Pittman, Jr., age 70, died Sunday, May 21, 2017 in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born December 8, 1946 in Johnston County he was a son of the late Carl Anderson and Myrtie Johnson Pittman, Sr. He was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Kay Pittman; and sister, Annette Blalock. Carl was a member of the Praise and Worship Team at Whitley Church, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He loved playing music and started his musical career playing bass for the Country Reigh Band and later playing with the Southern Drawl Band.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Sullivan officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening just prior to the service. Burial will be conducted at 12:00 noon Friday in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Pittman of the home; sons, Brian Anderson Pittman of Coats and Rodney Kay Pittman and wife Kristen of Goldsboro; brother, Merrell Pittman and wife Brenda of Kenly; and granddaughters, Kayla Pittman, Krista Pittman, and Karolina Pittman.
