SMITHFIELD – Carl Eugene Fox, age 74 died Saturday morning January 14, 2017 in Barbour Court of Smithfield. Born June 22, 1942 in Person County to the late Rev. C.T. and Ollie Leigh Dickerson Fox, he was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Ruby Collins Fox on April 30, 2000 and a brother Charles Reginald “Skip” Fox. He was a member and former Deacon of the Believers Baptist Church on Southerland Road in Clayton. Carl was a US Air Force, 20 year veteran serving as an aircraft mechanic, during the Vietnam War, with more than 5 years serving overseas.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Worley officiating. Burial, with US Air Force Honors, will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
Surviving are his loving wife, Linda Holmes Fox; daughter, Angela G. Fox of Pikeville; son, Timothy Carl Fox of Kenly; step-daughter, Annette G. Freeman (David) of Wilmington; step-son, T. Michael Gilmore (Connie) of Clayton; sister, Debbie Fox Ferrell (Larry) of Willow Spring; 4 grandchildren, Kristin Keleman (Paul) of Trinity, FL, Heather N. Freeman of Wilmington, Ashley M. Sanderson and Haley T. Gilmore both of Clayton and 3 great grandchildren, Christopher “Little Buddy” Matthews and Paityn Keleman both of Trinity, FL and Jenna Alexander of Clayton.
