Smithfield – Carolyn Ann Abbott Stearns, age 70, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020, in Durham County. She was born a daughter of Robert Earl Abbott and the late Eleanor Pearce Abbott on April 29, 1950, in Johnston County.
Mrs. Carolyn served as a church bookkeeper for forty one and a half years. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Clayton. Carolyn enjoyed reading and her social media, but most importantly she loved her family.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Clayton at 12:00 p.m., with Dr. Charles Ray Ennis and Dr. John Jenkins officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years Mr. Donald Wayne Stearns, father, Robert Earl Abbott, son, Daniel Wayne Stearns (wife Valerie) of Princeton, daughter, Laura Leigh Stearns Dale (husband Colin) of Smithfield, sister, Dianne Abbott Thorne (husband Jimmy) of Smithfield, and seven grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to Fellowship Baptist Church at 204 Atkinsons Street, Clayton, NC 27520.
