Carolyn Pate
A loving mama, a wonderful friend, the best ‘beach granny.’
Carolyn Pate, age 70, went to be with Lord on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021. She was born into this world May 9, 1950. Carolyn, when feeling her best, loved shopping, gardening, and just spending time with her family. Her last weeks were spent dwelling in the Lord with the ones she loved, memories made and never to be forgotten.
Carolyn was raised in Farmville, NC and spent many years of her life in Surfside Beach, SC. She retired from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction in 1999. After retirement, Carolyn spent her days writing poetry, travelling, and pursuing her passion of upcycling and reselling clothing.
Left to cherish her memories are her two daughters, Lorrie Thomas and Nicole Thorne; grandkids, Jessica Thomas, Karli Pernell, and Kaleb Thorne, along with two great grandchildren, Jayla and London; brothers, Marvin (George) Penny, Rodney (Cat) Penny and wife, Joy Penny.
Easter marks the day of Glory, a day of resurrection, a testament of God’s everlasting love. Because of Jesus’ sacrifices for us on that cross and God’s overwhelming love, Carolyn Pate is rejoicing alongside her passed family members. April 4, 2021 is a day of rejoicing for her loved ones, knowing she is not lost but found wrapped in the arms of the Father.
Carolyn Pate loved, she was loved, and was full of love. A special thanks to Tiffany, Misty, and Jennifer of Community Home Care and Hospice for the best care, encouragement, and prayers over the last few weeks of Carolyn’s life.
Family and friends are welcomed to join a small celebration of Carolyn’s life on Thursday, April 8, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The celebration will be held at Carolyn’s home, 118 Knollwood Dr. Pine Level, NC 27568. Plants and flowers are more than appreciated.
