Selma – Charles Frederick Simpson, age 66, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020, after an extended illness, against which he fought valiantly for several years. Born March 19, 1954 in Smithfield, he was the son of the late Charles Frederick Simpson and Dorothy Lee Moore Allen, and the grandson of the late Quester and Nellie Moore.
A graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville, Charles found success with Williams & Simpson Publishing, the first of a number of entrepreneurial achievements. As a lifelong musician, Charles brought joy to many by singing and playing several musical instruments. His love of music was matched only by his passion for traveling and spending time on the water, and surpassed only by his love for what mattered to him most, his beloved, cherished family.
Family and friends are warmly invited to visit and pay their respects at Parrish Funeral Home on Friday, August 28, 2020, at any time between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The family will be present intermittently throughout the day. A private memorial service is scheduled for a later date. Condolences, words of encouragement, special memories and the like are encouraged, and may be sent to the family at parrishfh.com.
Surviving are his wife, April Simpson; daughters, Leigh Ann Simpson of Raleigh and Caitlin Simpson Harrington and husband Jake of Greenville; stepchildren, Cassie Danielle Crawford of Middlesex and Charles William “Billy” Crawford of Kenly; and his precious grandson, Johnathan Philip Harrington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or the Music Academy of Eastern Carolina (www.musicacademyec.org) are appreciated.
