Danny was born on September 27, 1956 in Wake County to the late Leo Thornton and Myrtle Penny Davis. He was an engineer with Morganite and ECS in Dunn. Danny enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends.
Surviving include his sons and daughter-in-law, Daniel Clayton Thornton of Raleigh and Adam Earl and Jenna Thornton of Tampa, FL; girlfriend, Frances West Marshall of Meadow; and a sister, Judy.
