Smithfield – Douglas Tyler Kubik, age 55 passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC. Born October 9, 1962 in Norman, OK he was the son of Ganice Sweeney Kubik of Smithfield and the late Warren Franklin Kubik.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 in the Centenary United Methodist Church, 140 East Market Street, Smithfield, NC 27577. A private burial will be in the Riverside Extension Cemetery in Smithfield.
Surviving along with his mother are his son, Aaron Tyler Kubik (Samantha) of Fairbanks, AK; sisters, Vicki Kubik Sperry (Scott) of Albany, GA and Julie Kubik Patrick of Smithfield; ex-wife and special family friend, Barbie Newton of Smithfield; nephew, John Bradley Sperry of Tampa, FL and niece Laura Lynne Powers of Savannah, GA.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials, in honor of Doug, may be made to the Johnston Health Foundation, P. O. Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577.
