Four Oaks— Douglas Warren Hammond, 72, went peacefully to his place in heaven, surrounded by his loving family on June 7th, after a brief illness.
Survived by his wife Sharon, His son Douglas Hammond Jr (Bridget) of Parish NY, his daughter Becky Kehr of Gowanda NY, His step-sons John Greco (Dorothy), Simone Greco, his step-daughters Caterina Phillips (Mel) and Desiree’ Greco of NC. He was also proud to be the “Papa” to 11 grandchildren.
Douglas served honorably in the United States Air Force for 7 years and was a Vietnam Vet. He was also a very beloved “Santa Claus” to many families, Churches and communities.
He retired from the State of North Carolina where he was a small engine mechanic. He also served as the Sunday School Superintendent of Berea Presbyterian Church in Four Oaks, and was a member of the Four Oaks American Legion.
Arrangements for the celebration of his life will be announced at a later time.
