Benson, NC: Dr. James Thomas Parker, DDS, age 75, of Park Place, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00AM-Friday, August 7, 2020 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church 4057 US HWY 70, Clayton, NC 27520. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson, NC. Monsignor Gerald Lewis and Monsignor John Wall will officiate.
Dr. Parker was born on March 11, 1945 in Bladen County to the late Louis and Louise Khoury Parker. Dr. Parker completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at UNC School of Dentistry. He was a member of the North Carolina Academy of General Dentistry, North Carolina Dental Society and the American Dental Association. Dr. Parker was the 2005 Recipient of the Mastership Award from the Academy of General Dentistry, where he also obtained The Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. He was the owner and operator of Dr. James T. Parker, DDS Dentistry in Benson and was a member of the Diocese of Raleigh.
Surviving include his wife of 47 years, Anita Abdalla Parker; sons, James Thomas Parker, II and wife, Naky of Florida; Dr. Joseph Louis Parker and husband, Izcander Flores of Raleigh; grandchildren, Mia Parker, Gia Parker, Alexander Parker Flores, Albert Parker Flores, and Adrian Parker Flores; brother, Charlie Parker and wife, Sue of Whiteville; sisters, Mary Helen Adams and husband, Randy of Winston Salem; and Jane Davis of Monroe; brothers-in-law, Michael Abdalla, Sr. and wife, Demetra of Atlanta; Thomas Abdalla of Benson; and James Abdalla and wife, Latefa of Benson; many nieces and nephews also including the extended family of his entire office staff.
Dr. Parker will lie in state from 1:30PM to 7:00PM, Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson. The family will not be present during this viewing time.
In accordance with NC-COVID19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W’s: wait, wash, and wear a face covering. Face coverings will be required for the Funeral Mass on Friday.
