    SMITHFIELD – Edna Gould “Miss Gouldie” Cuddington Wood, age 83, died Friday evening in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, surrounded by her family. Born August 27, 1934 in Johnston County to the late Raymond Brantley and Verna Agnes Parrish Cuddington, she was the widow of Clayvon Wood who died February 9, 2005 and she was preceded in death by a brother, George Cuddington. Edna Gould was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church in Smithfield.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Blackman and the Rev. Phyllis Mayo officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.
    Surviving are her son, Gary C. Wood of Smithfield; daughter, Susan Wood House and husband Elbert of Raleigh; brother, Harold Cuddington and wife Pat of Kenly; two grandchildren, Garrett Wood of Willow Springs and Jennifer Hartsfield of Richlands, WA; three great grandchildren, Raymond Hartsfield, Nora Hartsfield and Sadie Hartsfield and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
    The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 1, 2018 at the Parrish Funeral Home.
