Edward Franklin “Hinky” Rose

    SMITHFIELD – Edward Franklin “Hinky” Rose, age 87, died Monday, July 5, 2021, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born August 20, 1933 in Johnston County to the late George Edward and Ida Virginia Woodard Rose, he was the widower of Janice Diane Lemke Rose on June 24, 2008 and was preceded in death by his sister, Joann Rose Evans. Mr. Rose was an electrician by trade, a US Air Force veteran and a longtime member of Progressive Presbyterian Church.

    A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11:00 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home, with the Rev. Percy Coleman officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Progressive Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. just prior to the service.

    Surviving are his sons, Randy Edward Rose and wife Sheila H. of Warrensburg, MO, Scott Alan Rose and wife, Terry M. of Concord and David Lee Rose and wife Julie R. of Pine Level; four grandchildren, Laura L Bunn and husband Joey. Taylor A. Rose and wife, Sabrina, Austin E. Rose and Andrew D. Rose and two great-grandchildren, Obediah E. Bunn and Odelia R. Bunn.
