Mr. Stephenson was born on August 29, 1933 in Harnett County, NC to the late Nelson and Pearl Ennis Stephenson. He was a retired truck driver with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Mr. Stephenson loved the outdoors, and had a very special love for all his grandchildren.
Surviving include his wife of 52 years, Hazel Taylor Stephenson, children, Princess Carroll and husband, Russell, and Brandi Maynard and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Walter Carroll and wife, Courtney, Taylor Carroll, Weston Carroll and fiancée, Aimee, Trenton Carroll, James Patrick Maynard, Ciara Ashlynn Maynard and Jonathan Maynard; sisters, Barbara Stewart and Brenda Pope; brothers, Carl D. Stephenson and Ricky Stephenson; many nieces and nephews.
