Folden Wilford (F. W.) Lee, Jr. died November 25, 2020 at the age of 73.
Born in Durham County on April 15, 1947, he was the son of the late Folden W. and Ruby Thrower Lee of Clayton, NC.
F. W. graduated from Wilson Mills School. He was drafted into the United States Army and served honorably during the Vietnam War. He was passionate about veterans being supported during and after their service. He spent most of his life in the logging industry and enjoyed being surrounded by his family, breeding Beefmaster cattle and collecting knives and guns. He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church.
He will most likely be remembered for his generosity. Through the years, F. W. assisted friends, family, and strangers in times of need. Many have shared stories of how he stepped in during very dire situations. As a founding member of the Me Fine Foundation created in memory of his grandson, F. W. made sure other families had the resources needed to endure the catastrophic results of having a child in long term care at Duke and UNC Children’s Hospitals.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Rose Narron Lee of Selma, his sons Folden Lee, III (Lori) of Smithfield, and Blake Lee (Tammy) of Clayton; four granddaughters, Aspyn Lee, (Kyle Smith), Wilson Lee, (Alex Harmon), Anna Gaites Lee, and Alexa Lee. Also surviving are his sister, Vickie Lee Beasley (Mac) and his brother, Mike Lee (Margaret).
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Lee Smith; brothers, Yarborough Lee, Husel Lee, Roger Lee, and Will Walters; and his beloved grandson, Folden Lee, IV.
His family would like to thank the employees of M&M Feeds and the first responders for their gallant efforts.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Me Fine Foundation at 318 Blackwell St, Suite 130, Durham, NC 27701.
A celebration of life will be held graveside on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 11:00 am at Hephzibah Baptist Church located at 4633 US Hwy 70 E, Princeton, NC 27569. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
