Frank Aaron Blackshell, Jr. (Shine) was born to Frank Aaron Blackshell, Sr and the late Mary Barry Blackshell on November 29, 1960, in Belle Glade, Florida. He graduated from Smithfield-Selma Senior High School, Smithfield NC in 1980 and furthered his education at Elizabeth City State University, Elizabeth City NC on a 4-year basketball scholarship. While attending he also became a member of Iota Phi Theta fraternity.
Frank was well known for his exceptional athletic ability from coaching to playing several sports where he captivated and dominated such as basketball, baseball and even being a lifeguard at the community pool.
Frank wore many hats but the one he took pride in wearing most was helping people in his community any way he could and he did it with that 100 Watt SMILE! To know him was to love him and he certainly loved his community.
Frank attended Shiloh Christian Church in his younger years and later became a member of Evans Chapel AME Church in Smithfield NC.
Frank was proceeded in death by his parents and 3 brothers: Freddie, James (Teeney), and Joseph (Chubby). He leaves his unconditional love and wonderful memories to one nephew, Montrell Blackshell of Clayton NC, one sister-in-law, Diane Blackshell of Raleigh NC, numerous cousins, and many, many friends.
