The world lost a great husband, father, grandfather, friend, and animal lover with the passing of Gary Anthony. Above all else, he cherished his family. Kids and animals were drawn to him and he’d never let either go hungry that were around him. Gary was a retired Army veteran and participated in the Desert Storm conflict. After his military retirement, he worked as an over-the-road truck driver until he retired to take care of his family, his dogs, cats, and chickens. He was a father to his granddaughter and spend many days waiting in car lines to drop off and pick her up from school.

Gary is survived by the love of his life, Kathy Summerlin Anthony of Kenly; his four children, Michelle Hollis (Cornelius, his fishing buddy) of Elko, GA; Andy Winbourne (Karen) of Durham, Rosa Elizabeth Anthony of Wilson, and Marcus Anthony of Lemont, IL. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kyleigh, Andress, Traevis, and Cayden; sisters, Debbie Prince, Gail Anthony and Sharon Norris; brothers, Alan Anthony, Randy Anthony, and John Anthony from the Augusta, GA area; special family friend, Mark Stevenson, and Aliyah, Lily, Raven and Kam who knew him as Papaw.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amber; his mother, Ruth Bearden; his stepfather, Dennis Bearden; and his father James Robert Anthony.

A service to remember and reflect on his life will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. by the graveside of Evergreen Memorial Park in Wilson with the Rev David Kriger officiating.
