George Person “Perk” Foster, age 85, of Selma, North Carolina, went to be with The Lord on the morning of Thursday, November 14, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife, Jonnie Faye Foster, his children, Valerie McLamb (Danny) of Benson, and Robert Foster of Selma, his siblings Hilda Marcellino of Pennsylvania, Betty Marcellino (Tom) of Maryland, Richard Foster (Hilda) of Bahama, John Wayne Foster (Alice) of Selma, Sue Williams of Greenville, and Anne Lee of Four Oaks, his grandchildren, Brittany Foster of Selma, Adam Beaty (Leanna) of Princeton, Courtney Foster of Greenville, and Laura Beaty of Raleigh, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Betsy and George Foster of Selma, brother Harold Foster of Texas, and daughter Sandra Lynn Foster of Selma, as well as brothers-in-law Joe Marcellino, Leon Williams Jr., and Edward Lee.

George served as a Seaman in the US Navy from 1952-1955 then came home and married the love of his life that he met when he cut in front of her in the lunch line at school. He was an auto mechanic by trade and often referred to as “the best there is.” He was a craftsman at heart and an excellent jack-of-all-trades. His family knew that if something was broken, George was the one to fix it and fix it well.

George was a member of Divine Crossings Baptist Church of Selma, the American Legion of Selma, the VFW, and the Selma Moose Lodge. He was full of joy and kindness that was shown to everyone through his beautiful smile and sweet blue eyes. In his later years he enjoyed passing time by sitting in his rocking chair on the front porch watching the cow across the road and enjoying the weather. He will be greatly missed by all.

The family would like to thank all who loved and spent time with George and give a special thanks to the State Employees’ Credit Union Hospice House for the gentle care and meaningful veteran’s tribute.
