Benson, NC: Gerald Seymour Jones, 89, of West Woodall St., Benson, made it to his Heavenly home on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Benson, NC. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019, 2:00 pm at Benson Baptist Church, Benson, NC.
Gerald “Jimmy” was born June 2, 1930 in Franklin County to the late Mary Edna Seymour and Bennett Lee Jones. He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Lee Jones, Horace Jones , Bennett Thomas Jones, Maynard Jones, John Jones, and Douglas Seymour; and sisters, Annie Burgess, Evelyn Bray, Mamie Bailes, and Laura Faye Jeans.
Gerald was a long-time member of Benson Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Gerald also served as treasurer of the Benson Junior Order for over 40 years and served on the Benson Housing Authority. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed cutting grass, gardening his tomatoes, and spending time with his family.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Minnie Edwards Jones, daughter; Mary Helen Page, and granddaughters Erin Page and Jessica Page Shellabarger and her husband Dalton; his brothers Charles Edgar Jones (Brenda) and Ronnie Jones (Joan); and his sisters Anita Privette (Wesley), Alice Jones, and Rosalie Moody.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 1:45pm in the fellowship hall at Benson Baptist Church.
