Coats, NC: Mrs. Geraldine V. Byrd, age 84, of 2713 Old Stage Road North passed away on Wednesday at Universal Health Care in Lillington. Funeral Service will be 11:00AM Saturday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Coats. Rev. Eddie White will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Church Cemetery, Angier.
Mrs. Byrd was born March 27, 1933 in Harnett County to the late John and Nancy Ann Porter Ryan. She was preceded in death by her son, Don Ray Byrd; a grandson, Jason Cartwright; sisters, Inez Langdon Smith, Laura Bowden; brothers John Thomas “Tom” Ryan, John Paul “Slick” Ryan. Mrs. Byrd was a homemaker and member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Angier.
Survivors include husband of 66 years, Edison C. Byrd of Coats; children and spouses, Edward Earl Byrd and wife, Joan of Fuquay-Varina, Bobby Byrd and wife, Brenda of Angier, Joan B. Tart and husband, Billy of Coats, William Byrd and wife, Debbie of Coats, Gale B. Turlington and husband, Alex of Coats, Tony Byrd of Coats; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Dorothy “Boggy” Ryan, Christine “Cricket” Ryan, Alexander Ryan and wife, Mary Lou, Bill Ryan and wife, Toni, Becky Cornell, and William H. “Bo” Ryan all of Spring Lake; several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats and other times at the home.
