    Harry W. Blackley, Jr., age 68, of Selma passed away on May 22, 2017. Born in Johnston County on December 2, 1948, he was the son of the late Harry Worth and Cora Edwards Blackley. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Blackley. Harry was always active in the Town of Selma, serving as a Town Councilman and two terms as Mayor. He was a member of the Selma Fire Department for approximately 33 years, serving during those years as Captain and Assistant Chief. Mr. Blackley owned and operated Ideal Cleaners for 35 years and Short’s Grill for 10 years. He was a member of Selma Original Free Will Baptist Church and the Selma Lions Club. Harry loved the Town of Selma as well as his family his friends, hunting and fishing.
    A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 30, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM.
    Surviving are his wife, Mary Joyce Talton Blackley; son Brian Blackley; sister Jane Blackley; and grandchildren Jordan Blackley, Ashleigh Smith and Ember Blackley.
