Helen Woodard Holloman

    PINE LEVEL – Helen Woodard Holloman, age 82, died Tuesday afternoon, January 7, 2020, in the SECU Hospice House of Smithfield. Born April 21, 1937 in Johnston County to the late Elmond Leslie and Ruth Brown Woodard, she was the widow of Eddie R. Holloman, who died January 26, 2002. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Tom Woodard and Troy Woodard and a sister, Emma Jean Stallings. Helen was a member of the Pine Level Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years, but recently was attending the Princeton Church of God where she was active with the “Young at Heart” group. As a child she was active in the Girl Scouts where she achieved the rank of Ambassador. As a young mother, she served as Girl Scout Leader and as a Cub Scout Leader in local troops. Following her retirement from Data General, she went back to school to get her CNA certificate and worked at Johnston Medical Center for more than 10 years. When not at work or doing something with her children, you could find her working in her yard pulling weeds, sweeping, picking up pine cones and raking.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Parrish Funeral chapel with the Rev. Howard Scott and the Rev. Curtis Tatum officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. just prior to the service. A burial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens.
    Surviving are her son, Randy Holloman and wife Susie of Pine Level; daughter, Jackie Holloman Lee and husband Larry of Pine Level; sisters, Doris Grizzle of Princeton and Carol Williams and husband Charlie of Clayton; five grandchildren, Hollie Watkins and husband Joe, Ashley Holloman, Ashton Holloman, Michelle Holloman and Thomas Lee and wife Amanda and 6 great-grandchildren, Simon, Noah, Luke, Hannah Grace, Savannah, Matthew, Riley and Nathan.
    The family would like to thank Mrs. Holloman’s special caregiver, Debra Young as well as Pam Kirby, Michele Carlton and Kathy McLamb for their love and treatment of Helen.
