LUCAMA – Herbert Lee Blankenship, Jr., 84, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Moore’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kenly. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm at the church prior to the service.
Herbert was born in Wyoming County, WV on July 27, 1935 to the late Herbert L. Blankenship, Sr. and Ora Richardson Blankenship. After his relocation to North Carolina, Herbert owned several country stores in the Lucama-Kenly area. In his spare time, Herbert enjoyed working on cars, cutting his grass, and working in the yard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Mary Louise Blankenship; sisters, Myrtle Adkins, Loretta Minton, Betty Royce, Mildred Quesenberry; and an infant sister, Ruby Blankenship.
Herbert is survived by his daughters, Penny Markulis of Carolina Shores, Karen Renfrow and husband, Randy of Fremont; grandchildren, Jennifer Rhines and husband, Brad, Steven Markulis, Garrett Renfrow; great grandchildren, Kallie and Grayson Rhines; brother, Harold Blankenship of IL; sisters, Charlotte Powell of WV, Joanne Chapman of OH; and his daughters in heart, Debbie Baker and Vicki Wertz.
