James Buck Smith

    James Linwood “Buck” Smith, age 74, of Princeton, passed away at his home on February 2, 2019. Born in Johnston County on September 16, 1944, he was the son of the late Nixon and Jenny Mitchell Smith. He was also preceded in death by a brothers, Dock Smith, Willie Smith, and Nixon Smith Jr. and sisters Minnie Smith Hill and Lillie Mae Smith Edwards. Affectionately known as the “Ford Man”, Buck was involved in drag racing for many years and was the owner of Buck Smith Performance cars. He attended Princeton Baptist Church.
    The family will receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma on Tuesday from 10-11 am followed by a graveside service at Bizzell’s Grove Memorial Gardens.
    Surviving are his wife Jennie Fitzgerald Smith; daughter Cindy Smith Gurley and husband Jeff of Rosewood; brother John Ray Smith and wife Blois of Princeton; grandchildren, Nick Gurley and wife Madison, Joseph Gurley and wife Emily, Mary- Catherine Talton and husband Bryan; Great grandchildren Ella- Rose Talton , Joseph Lynwood “J.L.” Gurley, Eleanor Rae Gurley and Gibson James Gurley; and many nieces and nephews.
    In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Princeton Baptist Church; 211 W. Pearl St., Princeton, NC 27569.
