Selma – James Levy Daughtry, age 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 23, 2021, in UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh. He was born a son of the late Willie and Catheline Daughtry on June 21, 1942, in Johnston County. James was a volunteer fire fighter for twenty-two years and he was a member of United Faith Christian Church in Selma. He worked with the NCDOT for 27 years before retirement. He enjoyed fishing, camping with the kids, and quality family time. He was also a very patriotic person because three of his sons have served in the Navy.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in United Faith Christian Church in Selma, with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service in the church beginning at 12:00 p.m.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Peggy Johnson Daughtry, son James E. Daughtry of Princeton, Gary W. Daughtry (wife June) of Zebulon; sons, Whitney D. Daughtry (wife Karen) of Goose Creek, SC; brothers, Wade N. Daughtry (wife Louis) of Four Oaks, Otis Daughtry (wife Teresa) of Smithfield, grandchildren, Charlie Daughtry, Emmalee C. Wilson, Ryan Daughtry, Faith Victory, Dakota Daughtry and Matthew Daughtry.
