James Louis Hopkins, age 76, of Clayton, passed away on January 16, 2020 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born in Johnston County on July 19, 1943, he was the son of the late Earl James and Virginia Stafford Hopkins. His wife was the late Virginia Strickland Hopkins who passed away in 2018. James was the warehouse manager at Hopkin’s Carpets and was a former member of the North Carolina National Guard.
James is survived by four grandchildren, Megan Bradley Williams (Rob) of Clayton, Taylor Bradley Dotson (Tyler) of Ohio, Michael Bradley (Michelle) of Four Oaks and Brandon Bradley (Ashley) of Benson and seven great-grandchildren, Luke, Caroline, Tucker, Tanner, Trace, Davis and Townsend. He is also survived by a sister, Barbara Langdon of Selma; and two brothers, Ronnie Hopkins of Selma and Harry Hopkins of Puerto Rico.
