James Rudolph “Pete” Keene, 89, passed away Friday evening at the home of his son in Ayden.
Pete was born in Wilson County on November 17, 1929 to the late Grover and Florence Bunn Keene. He was retired as a licensed vocational nurse. Pete proudly served his country in the United States Army. His greatest passion was his love of music. Pete could always be found with his guitar in hand strumming a few strings of music.
A service to celebrate Pete’s life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service. The family will receive friends following the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Pete is survived by his sons, James “David” Keene and Joseph “Danny” Keene, both of Ayden, daughter, Bernadette M. Gibson and husband Mike of Charlotte; grandchildren, Adam King and Ashley Goldstein; and his special long time friends Ken and Sandra Renfrow.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, J.D. Keen, and Bob Keen.
