Pine Level – Jimmy Carlyle Wood, age 72, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones and family at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born April 2, 1946 in Johnston County he was a son of the late Carlyle and Edith Wood. He was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Wood. Jimmy worked as an auto body tech of over 35 years. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed being a beloved handyman for his family, friends, and community.
Memorial services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, April 25, 2018 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Mr. Frank Hall. The family will receive friends following the service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carolyn Wood; daughter, Renee Wood Cahoon of Pine Level; grandchildren, Daniel Cahoon and wife Ashley of Jacksonville, Megan Cahoon of Jacksonville, and Allison McLamb and husband Josh of Willard; great grandchildren, Kevin Cahoon, Bryan Cahoon, and Kagan McLamb; adoptive grandson, Adam Stuckey and wife Amber of Pine Level; sister, Joan Jones of Sneads Ferry; special nephews, Frank Hall and wife Tammy, Wayne Hall and wife Kandy, and Mark Hall and wife Judy; many more nieces and nephews; and canine companion, Brandi.
