Selma – Jimmy Wilson Ellis, age 82, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021, in Wake Medical Center of Raleigh. He was born on June 5, 1938, a son of the late Wilson and Gladys Ellis in Johnston County. He is preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Jean Creech Ellis. Jimmy loved all his family, especially his grandkids. He enjoyed spending time at White Lake with all of his White Lake family, he also enjoyed rabbit hunting, farming, good home cooking, and his beagles. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He worked with the A & P Grocery Stores prior to going to work with the NC Department of Corrections Enterprise from which he retired in 2004.
A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in Selma Memorial Gardens with Reverend Ricky Anderson officiating.
He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Thompson (husband Steve) of Smithfield, Tracy Mitchell (husband Raeford II) of Selma, sister, Annette Blackman of FL, brother, Odell Ellis, grandchildren, Blake Thompson (Crystal), Amanda Mitchell (Justin), Trey Mitchell (Allison), Luke Thompson, great grandson, Daniel, several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the clinical staff that has cared for Mr. Jimmy in recent years.
