Kenly: John Daniel Gurley, 67, passed away Sunday afternoon at his home surrounded by his loving family.
John was born in Johnston County on May 23, 1950 to the late Daniel Boone Gurley Sr. and Gladys Murray Gurley. He was a member of the Kenly Missionary Baptist Church. John proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War in which he was wounded while in service.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Kenly Funeral Service. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service. Burial will follow the service at the Holly Springs Church Cemetery.
John is survived by his loving wife of forty seven years, Ann Massey Gurley; daughters, Melissa Honeycutt and husband Rodney and Toni Barbee and husband Chris both of Kenly; brothers, Daniel Boone Gurley, Jr. and wife Dianne and Robin Lynn Gurley and wife Cassie; grandchildren, Keri Holland, Kolby Holland, Dylan Barbee, and Alison Barbee; and a great grandson, Chandler Moore.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Phillip Daniel Gurley, and Kenneth Daniel Gurley; and sisters, Faye Ellis and Connie Johnson.
