SELMA – Johnnie Garnett Edwards Johnson, age 82, celebrated her “Graduation Day” on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at her son’s home. Born June 4, 1934 in Johnston County, she was a daughter of the late John Alvin and Helen Adeline Griffis Edwards, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Gray Johnson, her daughter Susie Johnson Parnell and all five of her sisters, Helen Davis, Inez Norkett, Ada Norkett, Mamie McCray and Hazel Romansky. Johnnie was a longtime member of the Grace Community Assembly of God and was also very active at the Harrison Center for Active Aging in Selma.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, in the Grace Community Assembly of God with Mr. Shelton Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are her sons, Mike Johnson and wife Missy of LaGrange and Daniel Johnson and wife Sabrina of Four Oaks and five grandchildren, Travis Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Payton Johnson, Greyson Johnson and Michael Parnell.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Parrish Funeral Home and at other times at her son Daniel’s home, 1125 Lakewood Road, Four Oaks, NC 27524.
