Joyce Whittington Norris, 74 of Benson passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019 surrounded by her family. Joyce was a cherished mother and grandmother who loved serving the lord through music. She shared her love of God as a pianist at Pleasant Hill Christian Church and Wentworth Christian Church and spent many loving years at the piano with her daughters and grandchildren singing praise and giving glory to God.
Ms. Norris’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 5:00 pm in the West & Dunn Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 6, from 4 to 5 pm. The Rev. Jonathan Pearce and Rev. Ron Byrd will be officiating the service. Ms. Norris will be laid to rest in the Fellowship Community Church Cemetery in Benson.
Ms. Norris is survived by her daughters, Maria Speight and husband Douglas of Lillington and Patti Davis and husband Shaun of Yuma, Arizona: her grandchildren, Patrick Speight, Caleb Speight and Mackenzie Davis; great grandchild, Patrick Speight, Jr.; sisters, Sybil Whittington of Coats and Barbara Parrish and husband Jesse of Clayton.
Ms. Norris was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Thomas Whittington and Tunie Denning Whittington; her husband, James Corbie Norris; and her sister, Sarah Clayton.
