Kenneth Hubert Wood, age 88, of Selma, passed away on April 13, 2019 at Johnston Health. Born in Johnston County on October 24, 1930, he was the son of the late Woodrow and Irene Betty Gower Wood. He was also preceded in death by a step-son, Vick Bunn. Mr. Wood served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He loved Nascar racing, bird watching, yard work and spending time at Lake Gaston.
The family will receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 16, from 6 to 8 pm. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, April 17, at 2:00 pm in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Long’s Plant Farm Rd., Goldsboro, NC 27534.
Surviving are his wife, Faye Hicks Wood; son Phillip Wood and wife Sandy of Four Oaks, step-son, Mike Bunn and wife Edna of Kenly; daughter Golda Pope and husband Ray of Pine Level; step-daughters Terry Keene and husband Jerry of Kenly, Tonya Page and husband Joey of Indian Trail; daughter-in-law Cathy Bunn of Clayton; brothers Dyrl Wood of Smithfield, Dennis Wood of Hot Springs, AK, and Jerry Wood of Surf City; sister Nell Jean Lee of Wilson’s Mills; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
