Kenneth L. Hammond age 63 of Grove St. Passed away at home Saturday evening May 9, 2020 surrounded by family .
Kenny was born in Gowanda New York October 14, 1956 the son of Howard and Margaret ( Ross) Hammond . He was a Gowanda Central School graduate ,Class of ‘74 and went on to attend Alfred State College . Kenneth married the former Melinda Utley at the St. Joseph’s RC Church in Gowanda on June 23, 1979. At the time of his death Kenny was employed with AT&T out of Raleigh, NC , he was a Line Tech for the company having been employed with them for 42 years and was a member of CWA Local 3611. Ken was a devout Christian and treasured his family and close friends, he will be missed by not only his North Carolina family and friends but by his New York family and friends as well. Survivors include his wife of 41 years , Melinda ( Utley ) Hammond, his children Richard ( Catherine) Hammond of Blountstown, Fla. , Sarah (Kyle) Hoffman of Four Oaks, NC and Rebecca( Zachary) Parks of Four Oaks, NC . Grandfather to Violet, Henry and Elinor Hoffman, Evelyn, Penelope, Isla Parks, Tristan Walden and Sierra Helgerson. Brother of Kathy Poland of Erie, Pa., Gerry Hewitt (Bob)Lanier of Venice, Fla. Kenny will also be missed by his 4 legged companions Milo and Mia . Survivors also include his step mother Sharon Hammond of Oneida, NY., his father In-law Richard Utley of Gowanda, NY along with Several in-laws , nieces and nephews .
Besides his father Howard Hammond and Mother Margaret Hewitt Kenny was preceded in death by his brother William Hammond , sister Diane Hewitt Brigida, his step father Bud Hewitt, his mother in-law Marilyn Utley. and his sister in-law Melissa Dispenza.
At Kenny’s request a private family burial will take place in the Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton. The family wants to thank everyone for there acts of kindness and prayers during this difficult time . If desired, memorials may be made to a local charity of ones choice .
