    Lucama – Lelon Walter “Charlie” Bryant, 80, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Palm Gardens of Sun City Center, Florida.

    Charlie was born in Wilson County on September 26, 1939 to the late Herman and Void Bryant. For many years, Charlie worked as an electrician in Wilson County with Allied Maintenance Company at Firestone-Bridgestone in Wilson before opening up his own electrical/satellite installation business.

    Charlie was a gracious, kind and generous man who cared about the souls of everyone. He also had a rich love for the Lord. Charlie started a prison ministry and served for many years in a rest home ministry. He ministered at Oak Grove Church as well as many other churches in Wilson County. His relationship with the Lord was genuine and vibrant. Charlie and Betty Jo loved and cherished their time together after moving to Florida to be near family.

    The family will receive friends on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Kenly Funeral Service in Kenly with a service to celebrate Charlie’s ministry at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park in Wilson.

    Charlie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Jo Crocker Bryant; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky Lelon Bryant and Shari Baurle Buckley Bryant; twin brother, Leon Bryant; grandchildren, Derek Buckley, Brandon Buckley, Michael Bryant, Kevin Turnage, Billy Turnage and Ashley Turnage Parker; and nine great-grandchildren.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Bryant Turnage; brothers, Herman Bryant, Jr. and Harold Bryant.
