Smithfield, NC: Mrs. Linda Massengill, age 80, of Long Branch Road passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at UNC Rex Healthcare in Raleigh. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at the Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens in Smithfield. Rev. Sherwood Lassiter will officiate.
Mrs. Lassiter was born on December 2, 1939 in Johnston County to the late Johnnie W. and Edna Alford Massengill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Sherrill Lassiter and a nephew, Brian Johnson. Mrs. Lassiter graduated from Smithfield High School in 1958 and from Campbell College in 1959. She retired from business administration.
Surviving include her son, Michael Lassiter of Smithfield and girlfriend, Carrie Hudson of Winterville; sister, Sandra Turner and husband, Roy of Four Oaks; nephew, Tony Johnson; a special cousin, Catherine Baker of Smithfield; and many other loving family members.
Mrs. Lassiter will lie in state from 11:00AM to 5:00PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks on Monday, August 31, 2020. The family will not be present during this time.
In accordance with NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W’s: wait, wash, and wear a face covering.
