Louella Lassiter Thompson 87, of Rockledge, Florida and formerly of Smithfield, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 10, 2019 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her children Lynda Parrish, Sarah Joseph, Sharon Hobgood, and David Hardee (Sara); Corey Michael Cook great grandson that she reared, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; Her brother Paul Lassiter( Peggy); Several nieces; Countless wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Thompson; Parents, Walter and Gladys Lassiter; Sister, Hilda Lassiter Barbour; and an infant brother. Louella retired from Johnston Memorial Hospital after serving her community for many years in the medical profession. Her greatest pleasure in life was to help others, often sacrificing her own time and energy doing so. Louella was also a long time member of Unity Free Will Baptist Church in Smithfield, North Carolina. She cherished the time that she spent with her family, had a love for flowers and animals, and will be remembered for her strong will and tenacious spirit. The family will receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, North Carolina on Tuesday October 15, 2019 from 1PM – 2PM, where a funeral service will immediately follow. Interment will be held immediately following the funeral service at Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield, North Carolina.
