Raleigh – Loyd Vernon Strickland, age 96 passed away May 11, 2018. Born in Johnston county July 22, 1922 to the late Hunter and Lula Massengill Strickland. In addition to his parents, Mr. Strickland is also preceded in death by his wife of 76 years, Pattie Wilson Strickland. A Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Monday May 13, 2019 at 10:30 am. The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home from 10:00 am to 10:30 am. Mr. Strickland and his wife settled in Raleigh NC in the early 1940’s where they raised their only child Daniel Loyd. Mr. Strickland was a dedicated and hard worker. He worked for Raleigh Linen Company for 43 years as a route man. After retirement, Mr. Strickland and his wife operated a lawn maintenance business. He enjoyed being outside and working in his yard. Mr. Strickland was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was very proud of his family. He enjoyed having all three of his grandchildren to come visit and spend time with him. He was blessed with 7 great grandchildren. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Mr. Strickland was a proud grandfather to Bobby Lee and his children, Morgan Ann and Cameron Donald Christopher, Loyd and wife Monica and their children; Victoria Ashley and Christopher Tyler, Cory Patrick and his children Alexis Ann, Austin Patrick, River James Daniel.
