Marie Roberts Byrd, age 90, died Saturday, June 12, 2021 at WakeMed in Raleigh. Born May 23, 1931 in Johnston County to the late Andrew Cleafus and Pearl Parrish Roberts, she was the widow of Lewis M. Byrd, who died February 25, 2004. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Byrd Creech; brother, F. J. Roberts and sisters, Leta Liles and Barilla Dean. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church for more than 55 years.
Funeral services will conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Nichols. The family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. just prior to the service. Burial will follow Selma Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are her son, Jerry Byrd and wife Debra of LaGrange; daughter, JoAnn Byrd Bailey of Sneads Ferry; sister, Carra R. King of Angier; seven grandchildren, Sandy Radford and husband Scott, Tammy Carlisle and husband Jim, Joe Bailey, Roy Creech, Jr. and wife Stephanie, Jamie Hamm and wife Heather, Emily Byrd and Justin Byrd and wife Lauren and ten great-grandchildren.
