Marjorie Marie Allen

    Marjorie Marie Mitchell Allen was born November 13, 1944, in Smithfield, N.C. She was the fourth of five children born to Willie Melvin and Maizie Tomlinson Mitchell. She was married to Rev. Ervis Eugene Allen who died April 12, 2008.
    Marjorie was a 1963 graduate of Johnston County Training School, Smithfield, N.C. she attended North Carolina college, Durham, N. C., and later enrolled at Shaw University, Raleigh, N.C. and graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in Psychology. She has done further studies toward a master’s degree at Capella University.
    Marjorie retired from the Governor’s Crime Commission in the North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety in 2003 and worked as a substitute teacher with the Johnston County School System until April 2019.
    Marjorie was a member of the Johnston County Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc; the NAUW (National Association of University Women, Inc.) and a member of First Baptist Church, Smithfield, N.C. where she was a member of the Senior Choir.
    She leaves to keep the memory and warmth of her life close to their hearts, her siblings: John M. Mitchell, Savannah, GA, Charles D. (Valgean) Mitchell, Cary, N.C., Barbara (Wellington) Breeden, Fort Worth, TX, aunt, Rochelle Sanders, Raleigh, N.C., nephews: Jeffery (Tina) Mitchell, Gary Mitchell, Marco Mitchell and Michael (Clarissa) Mitchell; all of Maryland, Charles D. (Sherri) Mitchell, Jr., Phoenix, AZ, niece: Diana Mitchell, Durham, N.C. and a host of great-nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

    Acknowledgment
    The family of Marjorie Allen wishes to acknowledgment all acts of kindness extended to as in our time of bereavement. A special thank you to cousins Vertna Devine and Degantus Ann Tomlinson for your thoughtfulness and support during this time of need.
