Angier – Marshal “Bill” Rudolph Pollard, age 90, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021, surrounded by his family In Selma. He was born on November 18, 1930, to the late Willis and Mammie Pollard in Johnston County. He is preceded in death by his son, William D. Pollard, and several siblings.
Bill was a lifetime professional musician, he began his career at only six years old, he hosted the Saturday Night Country Show, the Daybreak Show, and the Back Porch Country Show. He could play any instrument and he looked out for all his employees. He played in the Charlie Daniels Band and performed on the stage at the Grand Ole Opry three different times. He recorded three records and traveled the country performing on stage. He was a talented man and he will be missed by all his family and friends.
He is survived by his sons, Roger D. Pollard (wife Rhonda) of Pensacola, FL, B.J. Pollard (wife Jessica) of Selma, grandchildren, Christopher Gordon, David Gordon, Beverly Pollard, Jeremy Pollard, Danny Pollard, Katy Pollard, Mia Pollard, McKenzie Bruce, great grandchildren, Aaron Starling, Danielle Pollard, Gabby Pollard, Cambridge Gordon, Lane Gordon, Cali Gordon, Samantha Phillips, Autumn Phillips, Tessla Phillips, and Jacob Cardevant.
