Marvin Sidney Edwards, 84, of Kenly passed away at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City on Thursday, April 27, 2017. He was born August 17, 1932 to the late Luby Carl Edwards and Eula Jane Creech Edwards. The funeral will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 3:00 pm in Casey Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Aubrey Williamson officiating. The burial will be in Princeton Cemetery immediately following the service with Military and full Masonic Rites.
Mr. Edwards was a member of the Masonic Lodge #257 in Kenly as well as the American Legion. He was a member of the Kenly Original Baptist Church. Mr. Edwards was also a member of the Sudan Shriners of New Bern. He was a retired Kenly Volunteer Fireman and was part owner and ran the Kenly IGA Grocery Store from 1955 – 2003.
He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal Edwards Sprissler and husband, Danny of Knightdale, Belinda Edwards Etheridge and husband, Ken of Morehead City; brother, Donald Edwards of Pikeville; sisters, Mary Puckett of Kennel’s Beach and Esther Merrill of Raleigh; 4 grandchildren, Dannielle Sprissler, Chris Sprissler, Jon Etheridge and wife, Beth, Paula E. Murray and husband, Player; 2 great grandchilden, Emma Etheridge and Libbie Murray.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm Sunday, April 30th in the Casey Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to the Kenly Original Free Will Baptist Church, PO Box 487, Kenly, NC 27542.
