Wilson – Mary Patricia Walters “Patsy” White, age 84, died peacefully at her home on Saturday morning, April 3, 2021 surrounded by her family. Patsy was born July 13, 1936 in Franklin County to the late Joseph Vernon and Aileen Williams Walters and grew up in Pine Level.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph V. Walters, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Warren Keith White, their daughter, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Sarnelli and her husband Jerry and their children Matthew Joseph Sarnelli and Anna Elizabeth Sarnelli.
Patsy received her undergraduate degree and masters degree in Biology from East Carolina University. She spent most of her 20 year teaching career at Tarboro High School. A talented and dedicated teacher, Patsy loved each of her students (who she called her “children”), many of whom returned to visit her long after they had graduated. Her students fondly remember the leaf collection books created in her class. As much as she enjoyed teaching, Patsy’s favorite job was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Patsy touched many lives in a positive way and will be deeply missed.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2021 in the Oliver Cemetery near Pine Level. The Rev. Patrick Yelverton, a family friend, will be officiating. The family will receive friends, for a short time, following the service at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
