Princeton – Melba Jean Edwards Haddock age 88, died Saturday morning, November 16, 2019 in Smithfield Manor. Born July 12, 1931 in Johnston County to the late Albert C. and Lucille Gurley Edwards and she was the widow of Marvin C. Haddock, who died September 3, 2017. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Gray Edwards and sister, Edna Edwards Smith. Jean was a faithful member of Princeton Baptist Church as long as she was physically able to attend. She was also very active in the Town of Princeton where she served on the Princeton Women’s Improvement Club. Jean attended Peace College in Raleigh following her graduation from Princeton High School.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2019, in the Princeton Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwayne Batten officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Surviving are her sons, Charles E. “Eddie” Haddock and wife Kim and Tony C. Haddock and wife Duane all of Princeton; grandchildren, Ashley Huber and husband Edward, Matthew Haddock and wife Brittany, Jordan Haddock and wife Danielle and Kaitlyn Batten and husband Brad and great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Connor Haddock, Austin Batten and Andrew and Charlie Haddock.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Princeton Baptist Church, P. O. Box 215, Princeton, NC 27569.
