Ralph Wayne Crocker, age 73, died early Friday morning, November 12, 2021 in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born September 18, 1948 in Wilson County he was the son of the late George Ralph and Ruthelene Weaver Crocker. He was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Crocker Godwin. Wayne was a lifetime member of Holly Springs FWB Church in Kenly. He was an exceptional baseball player, that could have gone pro, making a choice to stay home and raise his two children instead. He was a former food broker and retired as the owner/operator of the Dairy Queen at Carolina Pottery after 14 years. Wayne was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and loved his aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2021 in Holly Springs FWB Church in Kenly with Rev. Curtis Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family requests masks to be worn at the service and social distancing guidelines followed. Though they are very thankful for the love and support of family and friends, they ask that no visitors or food be brought to the home at this time.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Crocker; son, Tracy Crocker of Wake Forest; daughter, Lavonda Crocker of Clayton; and two grandchildren, Katelyn Hogg and Dylan Hogg.
