SELMA – Raven Helms Dale, age 75, died Friday, May 19, 2017 in the SECU Hospice House. Born April 23, 1942 in Johnston County to the late John Allen and Beulah Margaret Helms Dale, he was preceded in death by both of his sons, Michael Ray Dale and Craven Timothy Dale, four brothers, Milford, Rudolph, Willard and Johnny and all five sisters, Ophelia Pilkington, Bessie Warren, Dorothy Young, Jessie Underwood and Aggie Dale. Raven was baptized in and for many years attended the Micro Missionary Baptist Church. A naturally talented woodcrafter, he was well known for his woodworking abilities, even crafting violins.
Funeral services will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2017 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. David Sutphin officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. just prior to the service. A burial service will take place Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Brown Family Cemetery near the home.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Brown Dale; brothers, Bobby Dale and wife Betty of Smithfield and Jimmy Dale and wife Judy of Clayton; three grandchildren, Kelsey Dale Bell and husband Shane, Kyle Dale and Noah Dale all of Micro; 16 nieces and 14 nephews.
