Clayton – Robert Henning Blasi, age 78, died Saturday evening, January 18, 2020 in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born July 3, 1941 in Essex County, NJ he was a son of the late Bartley Anthony and Doris Granath Blasi. Robert was a graduate from East Side High School in Newark, NJ. Following graduation, he served in the United States Coast Guard. Robert owned and operated Specialized Grinding Systems in NJ. After residing in Wharton, NJ for 40 years, he and his wife relocated to Clayton, NC. One of Robert’s favorite past times was drag racing. He was a fan of all motor sports and enjoyed racing with his son under Blasi Racing in the Pro-Mod category.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Mr. Luby Tyner, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Calabro Blasi; son, Jeffrey Blasi and wife Teresa of Clayton, NC; daughter, Caryn Blasi of Hopatcong, NJ; brother, Donald Blasi and wife Linda of Waretown, NJ; grandchildren, Dominic Blasi and Samantha Blasi; niece, Susan Pisano and husband Ryan; and nephew, Gregory Blasi and wife Shannon.
