    SMITHFIELD – Rose Jeanette Lane Rackley, age 82, died Sunday afternoon, July 25, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family. Born January 26, 1939 in Johnston County to the late Archie Cade and Annie Belle Little Lane, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alan Cade Lane and sister, Annie “Margaret” Thigpen. Rose was a longtime member of Everett Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Clayton.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2021, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Kirby, the Rev. Sherrill Lane and the Rev. Michael Crocker officiating. Entombment will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times people will be visiting at the Rackley home on White Oak Drive.

    Surviving are her husband, James M. Rackley; daughter, Candace R. Westbrook and husband Scott of Princeton; adopted daughter, Courtney Hayman and husband Terry of Alexis; brother, Tommy “Sherrill” Lane and wife Chrissie of Newport Richey, FL and two grandsons, Noah Westbrook and Micah Westbrook.

    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Gideons International The Gideons International.
