Selma – George Russell Bassan, Jr., age 40, died Sunday, April 28, 2019 at his home. Born June 6, 1978 in Guilford County he was a son of the late George Russell Bassan, Sr. and Rachel Higgins Massengill. Russell enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He was a faithful member of his church, Calvary Baptist in Selma. He was always willing to help others. Russell was a wonderful husband, a great father and the best brother in the world. He was a wonderful uncle that enjoyed taking his nephews to church and wrestling with his son and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 in Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Amy Bassan; son, George Bassan, III of the home; daughter, Jasmine Etheridge of Johnston County; and sister, Rebecca Hopkins and fiancé Christopher James of Angier.
