Stephen Lee Overby, age 44 a loving husband, son, father and brother, died Friday, October 15 2021. He was born June 29, 1977 in Johnston County to Gene and Peggy Eason Overby. Stephen was a former member of the Thanksgiving Fire Department and a member of Temple Represents in Selma. He was an avid outdoorsman, had just joined the Tri-County Hunting Club and was very excited about this upcoming hunting season. Stephen enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his son Seth.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, October 18, 2021 in the cemetery at United Faith Christian Church with the Rev. Jasper Renfrow officiating.
Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Amy Creech Overby; son, Seth Worth Overby of the home; parents, Gene and Peggy Eason Overby of Smithfield; sister, Jennifer Susanne Narron and husband Matthew of Smithfield; mother and father in law, Denise and Richard Tyree of Selma; brothers and sisters in law, Jonathan and Samantha Creech of Selma and Ricky and Amanda Tyree of Kenly and numerous nieces and nephews.
