Smithfield- Steve Watson Matthews, age 69, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020, at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. He was born a son of the late Raeford and Esther Jones Matthews on August 10, 1950, in Johnston County. He was a loving husband to his wife Joy Matthews for thirty-seven years. Mr. Steve was a truck driver for many years during his life. He loved riding his motorcycle and listening to music.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Matthews; sons, William Matthews and wife Lisa of Four Oaks, and Steve Matthews Jr. and wife Stephanie of Conway, SC, brother Kermit Matthews of Surf City and five grandchildren.
